John Derian Company is currently composed of three shops: two in the the East Village and one in the West Village, as well as an East Village Studio where our product is handmade by artisans. Since 1989, John and his small team of artisans have been creating coveted decoupage trays, paperweights, and decorative home accessories. All of our decoupage pieces are handmade to order in our Lower Manhattan studio using reproduced imagery from John Derian’s vast collection of antique and vintage prints. STORE MANAGER

This position requires someone who is flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced work environment. Knowledge of John Derian products is a plus and previous managerial experience is a must. We are seeking a manager who works well on a team, is organized, delegates well and takes initiative. The manager we are seeking will work closely with the owner to help bring out the best in our staff and to keep our stores running smoothly and efficiently. This is a full-time position.
Duties & Responsibilities- Staff Management: The Manager must have experience in the following: creating staff schedules, training sales associates in a retail environment, and managing a team of at least 10 people.
- Customer Service: All sales staff, including the Manager, must provide exemplary customer service to our clients in the shops, over email, and phone. This includes ringing up sales and answering customers’ questions as well as taking initiative to find solutions when items are out of stock or delayed.
- Product Management: The Manager will be expected to participate in and delegate to the retail team so that tasks related to product management are accomplished efficiently. Those tasks include but are not limited to checking in new products, maintaining inventory levels both in store and online, organizing and staying on top of online orders, and ordering supplies for all shops.
Desired Skills & Experience-Prior work experience at a managerial level in a retail environment is required - Working knowledge of Shopify, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Google Drive, and Slack is preferred.
- Knowledge or interest in art, antiques and interior design is plus as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Detail oriented in approach and accurate in execution.
SALES ASSOCIATES

We are looking to expand our retail team in New York City. This full time position requires someone who is flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced work environment. We are seeking an associate who works well on a team and someone who is also looking to take initiative to go beyond what is asked of them and create a position within the company complimentary to their skillset. The position is full time and compensation is commensurate with experience.
Desired Skills & Experience-Prior work experience in a retail environment and customer service is required
