Something eerie is in store! This Halloween, there’s a lot to explore: Cody Foster’s vintage-inspired papier-mâché buckets are perfect decorative accents, even sweeter when filled with candy. Ino Schaller, a family-owned business, has been creating holiday-themed objects in Germany since 1894. Black cats, devils, pumpkins, and mushrooms are but a few designs on offer.

Astier de Villatte and John have once again teamed up to create ceramic magic. The new Large Apothicaire Vases, inspired by the shape of a pair of 18th-century Delft apothecary jars from John’s collection, are the latest addition to their long-standing collaboration. The pair is embellished with images of bitter orange and citron, drawn from a 19th-century British study of the history of plants. See our full collection of Astier's handmade vessels here.

Floral still lifes from Holland, inspired by the country’s rich flower culture and art history, add a touch of color to any room. Embroidered silk velvet tabletop picture frames by Anke Dreschel surround a favorite photo or artwork in handcrafted delicacy.

New works by UK artist Zara Merrick have arrived in all their enchanting, embroidered splendor. Zara trained as a jewelry designer at Central Saint Martins but took up painting and illustration to explore color and pattern. Her love of textiles, rich in tone and texture, led to the creation of needlepoint tapestries. Her unique works of art are created by applying layers of fabric using intricate stitching techniques.

In the drawer this month, we explore “Spectropia” a Victorian-era book that invites readers to summon “ghosts everywhere and of any colour,” from which John has conjured up some special designs.
