In the Drawer: Tarot Cards

This series of decoupage plates and paperweights is based on a 19th-century Italian tarot card deck in John’s archive. The deck reflects the Piedmontese tarot tradition, which evolved in Northern Italy during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Major Arcana (22 Cards)

These cards represent life’s most pivotal themes and archetypal experiences. They explore transformations, identity, love, power and growth

Minor Arcana (56 Cards)

These reflect everyday situations and lessons. The four Suits are: Swords, Pentacles, Cups, and Wands.

Each suit includes court cards: page, knight, queen and King that personify
asepects of each suit
