In the Drawer: The Crested Turkey

From John’s archives, a special In the Drawer in celebration of November.

Albin's Birds

The crested turkey, one of many birds in John’s designs, comes from Eleazar Albin’s “The Natural History of Birds,” published in London between 1738 and 1740. The hand-colored engraving is one of three hundred created by Albin and his daughter, Elizabeth, in one of the earliest illustrated bird books.
