From itsy-bitsy to over-the-top, there’s a unique ornament waiting for you: handblown glass parrots fly next to spaceships, S’mores share space with sushi, and nostalgic Christmas baubles dangle beside sea creatures.
Golden opportunities abound – and silver ones, too – this holiday season. Our shops are stocked with gilded antiques, including 19th-century architectural elements, seating, and mirrors and art in gilded wood frames. French Globes de Mariée marriage cloches from the 1800s feature intricate wedding mementos such as tiaras, veils, and dried and gilded flowers, elegantly displayed under glass domes.

This Thanksgiving, John has you and your table covered. For starters, his colorful designs for Summerill and Bishop, produced on linen tablecloths, napkins, and sustainably sourced cork-backed placemats, set the standard for table settings. More linen cloths in not-your-garden-variety designs by Nathalie L’été’. Vintage and antique tableware mix beautifully with Astier de Villatte’s handmade glassware and ceramics, featuring John’s design of the perfect turkey platter for your perfect turkey.
Creased, wrapped, sealed, tagged, and tied with a bow, our paper goods come in many festive forms. From notepads that house to-do lists, to postcards penned with holiday wishes, to wrapping paper adorned in timeless 18th & 19th century prints, our paper expressions are sure to delight.
As temperatures dip, it is time to take cover. Start with Maryn’s new, finely woven cotton bandana from Japan. Cashmere gauze scarves from Noble Fibre are as light as a feather and embroidered with the John Derian logo in the corner. This month marks the 30th anniversary of John’s first shop in New York. A few years after starting his one-man decoupage design business in Boston, he moved to New York in the early 1990s. As orders increased, he hired a team of artisans to craft his motifs and opened his first shop in 1995 on 2nd Street in the East Village... a quiet block that would soon become his creative hub.
